BD52 Change Pointer. Message Type WP_PLU

We have change pointers for the message type WP_PLU.

Initially we have custom the field name MATKL, (MAT_FULL, MARA, MATKL)

If the user change the material group (WRCR transaction) we can display the change pointer in the table BDCP.

Now, if we delete this file name (MAT_FULL, MARA, MATKL) in the BD52 transaction and the user change the material group (WRCR transaction) the change pointer still appears in the BDCP table.

Why the change pointer is generated if it is not already configured on the BD52 transaction ?

Thanks and advance

    Hi Luis,

First of all a custom field name cannot be MAKTL as this is a standard field name.

I hope you are checking change pointers to table BDCP2. If not, please refer to SAP note 1165059 to migrate change pointers from BDCP/BDCPS tables to BDCP2 as this is much more better from performance point of view.

When you delete an entry from BD52 and if it is still creating change pointer, please check with what object it is creating.

Another way of stopping change pointers creation:

If it is a custom field, you can deactivate change document creation for change on a data element level. Go to MARA table ( I am assuming your custom field is in MARA) using transaction code SE11. Navigate to your custom field and double click on the data element. Please ensure, you are not changing any standard data element. Once you are in data element screen, navigate to Further Characteristics tab and there you have a check box "Change Document". Un-tick the same if you do want to generate change pointers.
