Customer name longer than 80 chars

Hi guys

I have a question: We have the case that a customer name is longer than 80 chars.

How can you model that in the sap byd system? What is best practise for that.

I thought that I should create an customer specific field which is called f.e. Customer Name 2

where we can insert our additional information.

But I recognized now that this is maybe not the best way to get this info into an sales order or a customer invoice via enhancement scenario.

Cuz in the preformatted adresse fields this field is not available only in the common data of the sales order...

Escpecially for forms this is a problem.

What would you suggest?

BR Lisa

Hi Lisa,

In the account master data there is already a field called "Additional Name" which you can use and I'm pretty sure it is already built into the forms as standard (it will appear as the second line in the address section on a form).

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for your quick answer 🙂

I know this field and we are already using it, but we have the case that the customer name is longer than

Customer Name (40 chars)

Additional Name (chars)

together 😞

Hi Lisa,

Wow!  In that case then probably an extension field is the best way to go and extend to the form.  You will then need to edit the form in Adobe LiveCycle to update the address details to include the new extension field.  It's probably best to try to limit to 40 characters for the extension field as well so it formats nicely on the form.

Kind regards,

Paul
