Changes in current month in APO DP

Former Member

Hello,

I am new in my position as a Demand Planner and to APO, I'm trying to understand if I can make changes to the current month FC for a part due to an impact order which is more than a years worth of my forecast. If I'm able to make changes, what is the best way to add this forecast in APO? There has to be a way, all I keep getting here is a no and that doesn't seem right.

Please advise when anyone gets a chance.

Hi Joe,

Yes of course you can do that but it should be in lieu of you business requirement. If business definition say's we are not allowed to change current months forecast making it kind of firm then it's a business call and for that technically in planning book creation we give offset of 1. This means when as a user we go in planning book for forecasting current month (if on monthly bucket) would be in display mode.

On the other hand it might be in certain business cases they want to change the current month forecast also then we don't give this offset and current month is open for working, where you can make necessary changes.

So technically yes you can overwrite the same.

Other way could be you want to keep your specific forecast freeze but still you want to adjust the outcome of DP process before it is released to SNP/PPDS or ECC. In this case we can add couple of key figures which would be open for change. In first key figure you extra demand or reduce and in second it would summarize the same.

Example, forecast KF is the one which you don't want to change coz of business reasons so put this in display mode for the specific period example M1. But in adjustment you put +/- and finally would be calculated in last key figure.

M1M2M3M4
Forecast100100100100
Adjustment10-1020-30
Final Release Fcst1109012070

So, yes of course you can do it but totally depends upon business agreement.

Let me know if this helped and resolved your issue.

Regards

Rahul
