Hello,
Is anyone familar with setting up an opening cash balance on a bank account.
We have created a journal for the bank GL, however this has not affected the cash balance for connected bank account.
Has anyone used the cash journal type 0084 previously ?
Thanks,
Kevin.
Hi Kevin,
Adding to what Alexandre explained, you can refer to a similar thread on the same issue which may further explain

Hi Kevin,
You usually do not need to touch the opening balance in the bank statement. The amount is derived from the Closing Balance of the last Posted bank statement.
You also mentioned that the bank statement did not hit the correct bank account. Please, check which bank account was selected in the bank statement. Open the MyBank for that account (Liquidity Management work center) and navigate to the Bank Accounts tab. For each bank account, you'll see the field Account Determination Group (ADG). The ADG selected here is used to determine G/L Account for postings. This mapping is done in the Cash Ledger -> Bank Accounts in business configuration.
In case you have no bank statements so far and you want to set up the current balance of you bank account in the system, this can be done via migration, in business configuration. The migration creates a bank statement with ID 0, which reflects your current account balance. After that the subsequent bank statements can be created and bank statement id 1 would have the opening balance based on the migrated account balance (bank statement id 0).
Regards,
Alexandre.
