IS-UT add-on upgrade using maintenance optimizer

Hi everyone,

I want to upgrade IS-UT add-on from version 600 to version 606. In order to perform this, I need to generate stack.xml file to use it in SAINT transaction. My problem is I am not sure how to perform this in maintenance optimizer. I tried by generating EHP upgrade files, but I failed. So my question is, how can I use maintenance optimizer to generate files for upgrade and stack.xml ?

Which one of three options should I select?

My Solution Manager is 7.1 and SPS12.

May be directly creating a maintenance transaction from LMDB should help .

From your LMDB screen , traverse to product systems[ ER2 ], under product versions  tab you would see  an option to create MOPZ . Click on the one against  EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 and try once again

Please post the software component list of your system in LMDB.

It could be the case that due to the stack equivalence principle, some of the components force EHP6 on Hana or EHP7. It is a somewhat remote possibility, but I would have to check the software component list...

Just for the sake of troubleshooting, what happens if you choose the option to just update the SP stack? If it goes to  propose a higher EHP6 stack, then Maintenance Optimizer is reading the initial state of the system correctly. If it proposes something else, then we have a problem with the initial state that MOpz is readong. From what I see in the SWFEATURE table, I think the issue has to be with the software component list, not the feature list.

the file list for IS-UT looks correct.

Don't deselect any of the IS-UT files! All the files there are mandatory for the queue calculated.

I had the same problem. The solution is easy (but also logical??)

Source:

SAP_APPL, 605, SP12

IS-UT, 600, SP25

Target:

SAP_APPL, 605, SP12

IS-UT, 605, SP12

The trick is to use the "Support Package Stack" option:

First, select the lowest Target-Stack. Then mark the "Utilities/Waste&Recycl./Telco". Now the MOPZ makes an EHP-Upgrade on this single IS-UT-component (and if necessary on the FI-CA-component)

At the end you can see, that only the IS-UT-component has UPGRADE- and SP-files. All the others have just ACP-files.

Hello,

IS-UT 600 is usable with EHP7 for SAP ERP 6.0 .

The EHP7 version of IS-UT is needed if you install a technical usage such as Oil & Gas with Utilities. In this case, the EHP7 for SAP ERP 6.0 version of IS-UT is 617.

IS-UT 606 will be included in the upgrade queue if you install an EHP7 technical usage that includes IS-UT 617.

The Support Package level... it is up to you. You choose the EHP7 for SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package level in MOPZ.

Your questions have been answered repeteadly in this thread, so please read carefully all the reply:

technically, it is possible to have release 600 components in an EHP7 for SAP ERP 6.0 system.

Functionally, you need to know what technical usages you want/need.

So, my answer to your point 1: yes, you can go ahead with IS-UT 600, but you really really need to read about Enhancement Packages if you are in charge of the update of the system. Please see http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp .

The question to point 2: No, you cannot update IS-UT without Maintenance Optimizer. .

You need Maintenance Optimizer. You really do. Read about it in Maintenance Optimizer - Solution Manager - SCN Wiki

Check SAP Note 1818596. The attachments should tell you what technical usages to choose.

In your case, the technical usages available for IS-UT 617 installation are:

- Oil & Gas with Utilities PVPART

OR

- Utilities/Waste&Recycl./Telco

You can install one of the two, or the two of them.

We cannot tell you which one to use, it is entirely up to you. It is a functional question that requires analysis out of the scope of an SCN Forum.

The attachments to note 1818596 should give you clues as to what are the software components included in the technical usages.

I got the following message:

Perform these steps on your system. You should probably upgrade your IS-UT to 617 to be able to use it. But you can not do it without SOLMAN.

Recently i put some questions on SCN Regarding IS-U, i have some confusion .

I have two questions.

1. Compatibility of IS-UT Release 600 with ERP6.0 EHP7

Please let me know i have installed ERP EHP7, in which i see the IS-UT 600 Components, will it work with ERP6.0 EHP7 ?(For this please find the screenshot).

2. is there any possible way to upgrade the IS-UT without solman? (MOPZ).

1. We also have one instance of ERP 6.0 EHP7. It also mandatory to update IS-UT to 606 version to be usable with EHP7.

2. You have to use Solution Manager for this, as far as I know it is not possible without solman.

EHP3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 is correct for an EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 system.

EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 is also there, so I don't see a big issue here.

Perhaps it'd be safer to remove the Netweaver product version assignment, but this product version is consistent.

Whether Going to EHP7 or not is purely a functional or client requirement , to Choose EHP7  as solution maager fails to create stack.xml may not be the right approach

Hello,

According to your second screenshot, you chose EHP7 for ERP 6.0. This is why there are so many files in the download basket.

Create a new Maintenance Optimizer transaction, choose EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 as target product version, then choose the technical usages, and don't unselect any files. There should be, depending on the source constellation, about 100 files, give or take. You cannot apply only IS-UT 606 add-on upgrade package alone.

In your second screenshot , You have chosen EHP7 . Did you not want to  upgrade to EHP6 ?
