Default and Start profile

Hello Guru,

Can you help me clarify difference between Default profile and Start profile in RZ10?

I need to turn on rec/client for DBCI and all apps servers. Must I set in all RZ10 profiles? What about default / start profile?

Which of these types of profiles override the other?

Is start profile for DBCI = Default profile?

Thanking you in advance.

Regards,

Ernesta Corvino

    Hello Ernesta,

generally speaking order for parameter substitution is:

    1. hardcoded value in R/3 kernel

    2. value in DEFAULT profile

    3. value in INSTANCE profile

    (where the 3. overides 2. and 2. overrides 1.)

    In other words:

    1. Parameters of 'Start profile' are used for starting the instance

    2. Values of DEFAULT profiles are used for all instances of the system and overwrite the default values of the kernel

    3. Values of the INSTANCE profiles are used (for the specific) instances and overwrite the default values of 2.

    Your case:

You may set rec/client in DEFAULT profile and make sure that it's not set in any other INSTANCE profile

    Best regards

    Juergen
