Product Interchangeability

Hi All

I have a client requirement related to product Interchangeability which goes like this:

In the scenario for fully interchangeable products

A <-> B <-> C

If we have a forecast for A, and there is no stock for A. The system will look for stock of B, then C.

If enough stock is not available, then the system creates a Stock Transfer Requisition for C.

Now, my requirement is to create an STR for A ( the original material) instead of C.

Please provide your suggestions on how we can achieve this functionality.

Thanks and regards

Swati

Hey Rahul

Thanks for your help. My requirement has been on hold since then, so didn't get to work on it. Will try it out and let you know once I get the updated requirements.

Thanks and regards

Not sure I understand.

As you all know, there is only a single date stored for pur req's in ECC.  So what do you want to happen?

Hi Swati,

Can you try locking the TLANES for C and B from respective Source of Supply to Destination.

If you are not using Heuristics try giving a higher priority to A compared to B and C.

Thanks

Hi Swati,

This is what you have to do:

  • Create a supersession chain with A <-> B, B <-> C & C <-> A, with direction full and use up "yes. I think you have created the same but only with A <-> B, B <-> C (though I could be wrong also).
  • Lets assume you are taking CTM run, in CTM profile on strategies tab under planning strategies put "delete orders that are not firm" and on special strategies tab "use discontinuation" under product interchangeability.  -- This will create only substitution orders with respect to supplies for product B & C. This will leave pending demand for product A (considering supplies are less for B & C).
  • Then take second CTM run with settings: on strategies tab under planning strategies put "do not delete any orders" and on special strategies tab "do not use" under product interchangeability. This is basically delta run which will take care for rest of the demand.

Let me know if this works for you.

Rahul
