Hello Experts,
We are planning to implement GST. For that, we are planning to migrate from TAXINJ to TAXINN.
I went through several posts but its not answering my following questions:
1. What are the additional steps / configuration to be done for TAXINN. Right now, we are using jurisdiction when we create and maintain tax percentage in FTXP
2. Can we directly change tax procedure assignment to country?
3. Do we need to create new tax codes or existing tax codes will do.
4. What is the impact on open POs, SO, GRs for which invoicing not done, Invoices for which payment not made, sales invoice for which receipt are not done, reporting etc.
5. What are the cutover steps to be taken before we start using TAXINN (like cancel GRs, POs, SO, etc and create new).
Please help me with the same.

Hi Meena Goyal,
1. It is little early to get the information about GST and migration from taxinj to taxinn and currently
SAP is working on and they will planning to release the information soon.
2. India Tax procedure Taxinj is formula based.
3. India Tax procedure Taxinn is condition based.
4. for Taxinn you need to create a your own separate access sequence
5. you Can maintain the tax rate at FV11 based on condition types and also you can maintain at FTXP but both will update in same tables.
6. 'directly assign the Tax procedure to country' is one of step in migration and please don't do the same without migration.
7. Yes you need to create a new tax codes for FI and access sequence for MM and this also part of migration.
8. All your open Pos, Sos, GRs need to migrate to taxinn.
9. cutover steps are not ready at this moment.
10. here I am requesting you to wait another 3 to 4 weeks for complete information and concrete information.
Thank you.

Hi Madhu,
Thanks for your initial information.
Point of mentioning GST was to tell that, we are not doing the re-implementation. Its just change in tax procedure. Hence I wanted required steps.
Whether GST comes or not is separate thing. But we have to migrate to TAXINN.
Two of the major queries:
1. Whether we can have straight away change the tax procedure to country.
2. More inputs on migration.
Thanks.

HI Meena Goyal,
1. Live production server to shift to Taxinn it is required a migration.
2. Straight away change is not possible because open item will get problem.
3. SAP is planning to come up with migration tool, hence please wait few days and once I got information I will share to you.

Hi Madhu,
Can you please suggest why TAXINN is being made pre-requisite for INDIA GST Forum. Since changes suggested under GST implementation can also be done by TAXINJ. Why made TAXINN mandatory for it?

HI Radhu Sachdev,
TAXINJ customers need to use many tax codes in MM and SD, and customers are running out of tax codes as they have reached the maximum limit of tax codes (2 digits possible). Many tax codes create problems for users, as they need to keep track of several tax codes at master data level as well as transaction level.
TAXINN, which is based on the pricing condition techniques. In TAXINN, tax codes do not play a vital role in rate determination, where other logistics entities such as plant, material, chapter id, vendor, customer, regions and so on are used for tax rate derivation.
I hope above points will clarify your concern and more details are available in SAP note.

Hi,
The note 204164 ( Thanks to Madhu ) has also provided a link on training plan of SAP for Implementing GST in SAP.
Phase I Training is on Migration Strategy for change over from TAXINJ to TAXINN, to be ready with Implementation of GST in SAP. Phase II shall be on Implementation of GST in SAP.
The link for training is - http://training1.sap.com/asset-manager/cdn/pdf/GST-Phase-1_TrainingCourse_2015.pdf/IN/EN
Few questions are to be answered like -
- What about those who are still on lesser versions
- If already on TAXINN can we assume that they ready to implement GST
