Having an issue with a client where after an update from BI 4.0 SP4 to BI 4.1 SP5 Webi Rich Client will not open on a PC.
The application server software is fine and the Universe Designer, Widgets etc all run ok on the same PC.
If a domain admin logs on to the PC then Webi RC starts ok, but if the original user tries it doesn't start. No event in the windows event viewer and no logs in the BOBJ logging directory. No error message onscreen, just nothing happening.
Java version on PC is 1_8_0_25 but according to this, that shouldn't matter:
Tried applying the fix in SAP Note 2112715 but hasn't helped. Tried a third user and they can't run it either. We also tried adding the original user to the local admin group but no joy.
Any help much appreciated before I uninstall all BOBJ on the PC and try a full install at SP5 level instead.
thanks
Keith
Hi Keith,
This issue seems to be related to folder rights.
When WRC launches, it uses .lsi file from lsi folder. It also updates the LSI file whenever the user navigates through the repository while working in WRC.
The location is as follows:
C:\Users\<user id>\AppData\Roaming\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\lsi
(<user id> is the windows user who has logged into the machine)
As mentioned by you, domain users do not face the issue. Seems like normal users lack proper rights on this location
Therefore, please make sure if the affected users have read/write privilege on the above location on that particular machine and check.

Yuvraj

Based on your comment "If a domain admin logs on to the PC then Webi RC starts ok, but if the original user tries it doesn't start. " Can the user try starting the application as Admin (the Run as administrator option).
May be the user lacks rights to access some files that are critical to start the application. Just a thought.

Can you use Microsoft ProcessMon to find out where Webi rich client stops if launch as non-domain admin account?

Hi Keith, we are observing the same issue in some computers, those used for trainig.
Have to check if it was resolved.
