ALE settings of single stack in dual stack

Hi Experts,

I am working on SAP 7.4 dual stack vesion of PI.

And as per new requirement to have idoc communication with ECC, we are suppose to do ALE settings between PI and ECC?

Question :  Will it be ok if I do single stack ALE settings in dual stack PI?

means treating my PI as single stack and do all the ALE settings only with java stack and using IDOC_AAE?

WIl it be a good idea?I am planning to do this since in future I might have to do this in single stack .

Please suggest.

Hi Dilip,

Yes it is good idea to do the settings for IDOC_AAE if you want to go for single stack in near future. You will be ready by the time when you get single stack and you fix all the configuration related issues before you get single stack.

But just wanted to know, if there is any fixed rule that we should go with only dual stack ALE setting if working with dual stack , single stack ALE should work fine with dual too. right?

Hi Dilip,

There is no rule like that, you can configure single stack ALE settings with dual stack PI system.
