SDM host problem

Former Member

I have completed succesfully installation of NWDS on a local system. When i try to deploy a database i got the message:

Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !

I have checked for the setting in Preferences for SAP J2EE Engine and the setting is:

SAP J2EE Engine is installed on remote host is checked.

Message Sever Host = localhost

Message Server Port = 3601

If i try to change the setting to SAP J2EE Engine is installed on local host and then i try to browse i get the message:

No local engine could be found

Reason: No system could be found under
NAME\SAPMNT

Please configure your engine as remote host installation

The fields: System Name

J2EE Instance

SCS instance

are not ready for input so i am not able to change the setting

Note: I am able to connect on database via SQL Studio.

Help required,

Best regards.

Hello All,

I found problem - you should use not 36xx port, but 39xx (where xx - SCS instance number).

Hi, I have the same problem. I have checked my installation with all the things mentioned in the thread, including the hosts file and the shared folders. I am still getting the same error. Anything else I should be looking?

Thanks,

I had the same problem but quickly realized that it was only happening when connected to a clustered environment. Once I pointed to the SCS host instance, it worked.

You mean activationg the sharing again.

Just create 2 remote shares to folder usr with remote names sapmnt and sapcol with Administrator group access.

SAPservice<SID> user should be able to access them.

Do you see WebAS in the J2EE view?

Are you sure that the Message Server runs on 3601 (central system 01) check that with the SAPMMC or the messge server logs.

Or mostlikely you disabled the automatic sharing of folder usr with remote sharing "saploc" and "sapmnt"
