Hi Experts

please answer below question.

While defining Company code and Sales organisation in most of scenarios why their naming conventions are same ?

for instance

company Code             IN01        IN02       IN03      GB10      IE10

Sales Organization       IN01        IN02        IN03      GB10     IE10

thanks in advance

Its a good practice only, But its not mendatory.

Because After Client Highest Level in Company Code in FI.

Like in SD  Sales Organization is Highest level.

Hi Hemant,

As I understood from my experience that scenario which you have given is that in your client one company code has only one sales organization. In such type of case it is good practice.

But where one company code has more than one Sales organization in such type case is sales organization code will short form of actual name should come under 4 alpha numeric or any 4 digit alpha numeric is used. These are decided during Blue print phase as proper discussion and understanding of client business.

They may not be the same if you have more then one sales organization under the same company code. If you needed to create a second sales organization for IN01 what would the code be?

IN02? Already taken.

I agree with all above statements but couldn't agree more with Jurgen. No doubt this is always done on client's requirement but this is consultant's job to make client understand what is pros and cons of these names.

I dont think so any client could disagree and ask consultants to give some different difficult names to organizational units.

Hi Hemanth

Enterprise Structure and their elements are maintained according to the Client's requirement.

Dont think about the same too much.

Is this an interview question?

What would be your personal thoughts for the answer?

Maybe more questions help to evaluate this on your own.

Would it be more or less difficult for the endusers to remember the names if they would be completely different?

Could the users easily know which sales org is doing business for which company code if the names are equal or different?

Could the name be the same if you have more than 1 sales organization who works for this company?
