Dear experts,

I am planning to update the kernel  with HANA database. It is my first time  that I apply a kernel with HANA  and for that reason I want to be sure everything is properly planned. I have updated kernel with Oracle databases and my biggest doubt is if I have to do something in the database, what would it be?

I have looking for any note that help me  with a step by step but I couldn't find it.   In that order I will ask you based on your own experiences.

Current  Kernel is 742 PL28, I am planning to update to PL 101.

I appreciate any comments or suggestions,

Best regards,

DanielO

The procedure is the same for all systems. You need to download the DB independent and DB dependent kernel archives and the only difference is that you need to download the kernel (DB dependent) for the HANA database.

/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostctrl -function ListInstances

shows a difference for AS/CS/DB

How does /hana/shared/HDB/exe/linuxx86_64/hdb/ become updated?

There are newer binaries as well as old ones, so I guess SUM / hdblcm / hdbupd does work on this, but it's not complete

A full kernel Archive (SAR) won't fit here, there is a huge difference in the number of files. Usually there would be a fs structure in /sapmnt below SYS to serve the files which would be copied by sapcpe during startup according to the you_name_it.lst mentionend in the profiles of the instance

How is that accomplished on a HDB server or a AS/CS with DB with varying file system structure
