BO 4.1 SP5 Web Intelligence: No limits set - but only getting partial results

Former Member

Hello,

I'm using a WebI report with a query which should return round about 12.000 rows, but I only get exact 10.000 rows as resultset.

These steps I already tried:

  • IDT -> Query Options -> Disabled Limit size of result set and Limit execution time
  • Report Query Panel -> Query Properties -> Disabled Max rows retrieved and Max retrieval time
  • Restarted Web Intelligence Processing Server

But I'm still getting only partial results. I don't know what else I could try. Any suggestions?

System:

BusinessObjects 4.1 SP5

Web Intelligence (Browser with Java Applet) and Web Intelligence Rich Client

Hi Marc ,

What is your backend databse ? which connection you are using ?

Did you checked in Connection parameters ?Check connection pool mode is set to disconnect after each transaction !

It's an Oracle 10g database and we're using a Oracle OCI connection.

I set connection pool mode to disconnect put it did not help.

Hi Marc,

Raise an incident ticket to SAP team, they will help you out with the solution.

How much time report refreshing for ?

Can you try by applying any filters at query panel level in report ?

Idea is by restricting no of rows coming into report ,ideally we should not get partial results warning !

Hi All,

I too am facing the same problem. Despite disabling the max no of rows retrieved and max execution time, am getting Partial results for Sold to Party. If the user seraches for a sold to party which is not appearing in the intial LOV display, no records will be retrieved despite the fact that that sold to party exists.

In IDT, the options 1. Force users to filter values before use and 2. Allow users to search values in the database are disabled. Is there any specific reason for this?

Any pointers are welcome on how to resolve this issue. We are using BO4.1 and SP4

Thanks & Regards

Hi Sateesh,

the report needs only 2s to refresh.

I also set a filter in query panel but I'm still getting partial results.

  1. From your 3.1 environment promote(using UMT) the web-I report, connection and the universe to 4.1 as is and check what results you get in 4.1 when you refresh the report.
  2. open the web-I report, copy the SQL and execute it directly on the database(using Toad like) tool. While logging on to the database, use the same credential that you use to refresh the report.

Given that you're getting the error in both, could it be set by the DBA with BO having no control over it?

The only other option I can think of is some obscure PRM file setting that someone experimented with.

There are no database restrictions. In BO 3.1 everything worked after I disabled the result set limits in our universe. And there were no changes on database level sind then.

OK, so it's 4,1 issue. You've changed the query options in all the business layers right?

The only other thing I'd experct you'd have to do is restart the SIA.

After changing universe parameters have you exported universe to repository again?

Can you please check

Yes, I have exported the universe again. Nothing changed.

Hi,

May be you are getting aggregated rows in webi.Copy the SQL of query and run the backend and compare the records.

Hi Amit,

If data is aggregated & all the rows are fetched then BO will never throw "partial"result error.

The former system was BO 3.1, where the same problem existed. But in BO 3.1 I only had to disable Limit size of result set and Limit execution time in the UDT and everything worked fine.

Since we use BO 4.1 it's not possible for me to fix this problem.

Hi Marc,

....Data base restriction.... it seems to be restricted at Data base level as I remember some time ago it was my solution.

Regards.

Hi,

Are you gettting data from multisource universe?

Hi,

no, it's not a multisource universe.

Hi Marc,

Might be because your values are getting aggregated. Did you check the Avoid duplicate row aggregation ?

Right click on table > format table > check the avoid duplicate row aggregation, which will be unchecked by default.

Hi Tanveer,

I checked the Avoid duplicate row aggregation but I'm still getting partial results.

The former system was BO 3.1, where the same problem existed. But in BO 3.1 I only had to disable Limit size of result set and Limit execution time in the UDT and everything worked fine.
