I have just installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version Sneak Preview and have the same problem. Has anyone solved this?

Thanks

No one can't resolve this problem ?

Maybe SAP is the problem (why the length of full computer name must be under 13 characters? that is what the biggest software product in this world can do?) or ... ?

Hi,

If your computer name is HASTRICH-FB10D5 then you have problem with length of the compueter name. You cann't have more than 13 char for the computer name. You may be seeing the work+disp process turns yellow by saying it couldn't reach message server. IF this condition are true then you need to change computer name and reinstall then system works.

I also had a great number of password problems with this install. The last one that I took notes on centered on the DB: a control operator password of "0506nsp" was accepted when I entered it during installation, but later on I had a failure (don't know now whether it was at a subsequent install step or when trying to bring the system up); I changed it to "admin", and after that everything worked ok.

Hello.

Did anybody solve the problem till today?

When I try to start NSP via SAPMMC it only lights yellow. I think it should be light green, or?

So I think that there is a problem with the Loopbackadapter. I installed this like it is described in the Installation Guide (10.10.0.10/Computername).

Also my host file is updated.

Any Idea?

Thx

same error here..

These are the steps I tried which didnt work

Uninstall antivirus and firewall

Reinstalled the Network interface card.

Tried MS loop back adapter

Entered the values in the host file and made sure they were correct.

I think it is a problem with Network interface card.

becoz Sap logon manager actually tried to connect but some thing is blocking the connection. not able to figure that out.

Any other advice friends....

Now the last one I am going to try is Format my system in a few days..

You probably have seen the installation guide ('start.bat' from the downloaded files) when you installed the Sneak Preview. There's also a 'System Requirements' section in the guide which explains how to install the loopback adapter.

Did you update your "Hosts" file as per the instructions?

You have to add this entry to the hosts file:

Dummy IPaddress hostname

Also make sure after this chnage the SAP instance should be restarted...maybe also the DB, but I'm not sure....

Thankyou...

I check the host file which is in this folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

It has following values

127.0.0.1 localhost

SAP instance means Database instance...

I don't know how to start SAP instance, If i need to start, Do i need to provide User id and Password? Please guide me

Thanks

Ok, in the hosts file, make this entry under the current one and save the file.

10.10.0.10 <your_full_computer_name>

To start and stop the system, use the SAP MMC on your desktop. Right click on the NSP node, and choose "Stop" after it goes grey, right-click on the NSP node and choose "Start". After a couple of minutes, try to log on again. You may need to enter the user/password to start/stop the system. Use the user name and password that you log into your machine with.

Thanks for you reply

From SAPMMC, i try to stop and star, it is asking the user id and password. It says stop failed... Invalid credential. I don't the user id and password... I restarted my laptop, and checked the SAPMMC, it says two folders under NSP, one says computer name and other one says computer name 0.

After i put the following entry, still i am getting this in the host file

10.10.0.10 <computer name)

Thanks

You are putting the full computer name in the host file, right?

Like...

10.10.0.10 Heilman1234.mycompany.com

Also, when its asking for the user id and password, enter the user name and password that you enter when you first boot your laptop. Make sure to take care of case sensitivity.

in SAPMMC when you start the system would prompt for user id and password and you should use

userid : <computername>/nspadm

password: password give for nspadm while installating NW2004s ABAP
