Same position type in contract and sales order -> 2 billing indices

Hello,

I customized an item category with billing plan. I am using this item category in contracts and create sales orders in reference to the contract. The sales orders use the same item category as used in the contract. Everything works fine. The only big problem is that there are two billing indices generated and shown in VF04.

In general this is understandable for me. But is there a possibility to solve this topic by customizing? Otherwise I think the only solution might be a second item category.

Not sure what exactly you want to achieve.  You should be knowing, whatever documents gets stored in VKDFS table (Contracts / Sale Orders / Deliveries), the same would be displayed in VF04 and the control is with your item category configuration.  Needless to mention, ideally, you should have configured different item categories for contracts and sale orders.
