Hi,
Can any body help me out about how activate service port 25 in smpt through sap system.
Currently it is inactive as i am seeing with smicm tcode.
I have tried to active with service --- > activate from menu, but it is returning operation failed rc-1 .
Please anybody help me out with this.
Thanks in advance.
Have you followed previous mentioned SAP KBA & recommendations
Resolution
- You must bind the SMTP service to a port that is not occupied by any other service
- Goto Transaction SMICM -> Goto -> Services
- Select SMTP, goto 'Service' in the top left corner and then choose 'Change'
- Change the 'Service Port' to a free port and then hit the 'Change Service' green check mark (F8) and the SMTP service should be active
- A good port to choose is 25000 or 25001 as these are known to be free ports.
- Please note that when you set these values from SMICM, you are dynamically switching them, meaning that the values start working immediately without restarting the system. However when you restart the system, the parameters are lost.
- To avoid such a problem, you must enter these parameters in the instance profiles using transaction RZ10 as per note 455140. This way the parameters will be taken into consideration when restarting the system.
& SAP Note 455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP

Have you configured SMTP connections under SCOT for mail configurations in your system ? If possible elaborate your issue in detail or provide snap shot as well.
