Automatic rule creation / initial setup

Does anybody know of a program / method to initially create all of the responsibility rules I need for initial workflow creation? I have a rule where my criteria is cost center - and naturally that is a very large number of responsibility rules! I would love to find a program where I can automatically create all the responsibility rules instead of having to manually create / assign each one.

Responsibility rules are a great tool for the right problem. In my opinion though they are only useful up to a relatively small number of responsibilities. The interface for maintaining them is still a bit archaic. They don't sort, there is no real search etc.

My rule of thumb is that if you're not prepared to delete and recreate them every so often to clean up after inserts and deletes, than you've got too many data records.

In terms of something like cost centre you tend to need a mapping table. In creating this you can also develop a nice interface if you expect a lot of changes within the data.

Alternativel you may also be able to link the Cost Centres directly into positions/depts on your Org Struct. This of course needs a nice match between your org structure and cost centre responsibilities.

There is no tool for mass maintenance of responsibilities that I know of.
