Access SAP Server remotely using SAP GUI

Hello,

I made two different SAP ECC6 EHP6 IDES installations in two systems of my personal LAN at home using WIFI.

I then used dynDNS to point out on my public IP address.

I also opened the necessary ports for the two PCs (192.168.1.5 and 192.168.1.6) on the router.

Now the problem is in SAP GUI, I can access only to one of the two systems remotely even if fill the System ID field with the other value, I'm always connected to the same system and I don't know why.

Please help me find a solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance.

you need 2 different IP address on the Internet...

or, you configure your router to listen to different ports.

do you mean that with one public IP address I only can access one SAP system even if I have many in my LAN ?

by default, yes... but, there are ways to change this...

You will need a router that will use NAT and change incoming/outgoing ports.

a network specialist can help you this... or, go on the website of your router and see if such option exists.

Actually, I found a solution for my problem. It's to change the instance number of one of the systems (01 instead of 00) and automatically the ports change too ( 3201 instead of 3200, ...)

I'm surprised that this is enough.

changing port number is part of the answer, but you only have 1 Internet address. How will you map this to 2 different IP internal adresses?

you will need to tweak your router/firewall...

hi occoro,

may be in hosts file one ip is mapped due to which  it is always connecting to one server.

in the sap gui are you mentioning the ip or hostname?

Hi,

In the SAP GUI I'm mentioning the hostname, and even if I mention the IP I get the same result !

is the hostname same for both SAP systems?

No they have different hostnames, but I'm using the hostname provided by dynDNS which points on my public IP address dynamically.
