User-defined field limit

Hi All,

Is there a limit on the number of user-defined fields? In SBO 2005 PL03 I cannot create more than 30 UDFs on the BP table. I get the following error: WTR1 Error(1)

The record limit of 8060 is not close to being reached.

Im running 2005 PL06, and I created 38 fields to try ypur problem, and I can keep creating fields.

The strange thing is your error is in the WTR1 table, that is the Inventory transfer rows table.

may I suggest that you try fewer fields, maybe one, with the total length of your 30 fields? that way, you'll discard a maximum number of fields issue.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't spent much time on this, but will try various scenarios with the UDFs today and (hopefully) let you know why the error occurs.

Hi,

This is SQL Server's limitation and it is not based on the number of UDF's. The limitation is on the field length.

The sum of the field lengths should not exceed 8060 or so.

Hi Adele,

I'm not gonna answer your question (cause I don't know) BUT - SAP prescrides running SBO 2005 on patch level 5 only. Seeing that there are many issues with 3 & 4. This is "official" correspondance from SAP. Try maybe upgrade and let me know....
