SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for MS Visual Studio - End of Maintenance Dec 31 2018

In SAP Crystal Products - End of Mainstream Maintenance Dates: Current Products, the date for SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for MS Visual Studio is Dec 31 2018. Will there be a new version for the CR for VS by then with a later end of maintenance date or will it be replaced by another product?

Thank you.

    Hi Ramon,

I'll have to ask DEV about that date. It's not clear exactly what it means. We typically maintain a product for 8 years so from the original release in 2010 it would end in 2018. But we continue to release updates, SP 19 was just released.

They are currently off for the Chinese New Year so it'll be a week before I get an update. I'll ask the Go To Market team here and see what they say.

    Hi, Don

Thank you for your reply. I would appreciate getting an answer to this. The CR for VS end of maintenance date does not align, at least, to that of Crystal Reports 2016 which is 2020 and wondering if it will be replaced. And also, why is CR for VS product does not have an End of Priority One Support Phase unlike most of the CR products?

    Hi Ramon,

CR for VS has a separate install which is a replacement for the embedded CR for VS plug-in that we used to integrate into Visual Studio installer. We removed that and is now a separate download that plugs into all versions of VS. So not sure why that date is set to 2018, ran out of time to find someone local to explain the date. The DEV and Product owners are in Shanghai and it's their New Year so no one to answer the question.

CR for VS is only released in Full builds and there are no patches to any releases so no need for priority one support, no option to escalate one. It's not the same as the BOE .NET SDK package that is/can be patched, but typically released in full patches also, but it can have a P1 escalation requested.

CR for VS is unmanaged reporting only, will not connect to BOE, so lower level support for it.

NO it's not going to be replaced.

    Don
