Index creation taking long time in the process chain

Dear Friends,

Greetings.

When the Process chain runs smoothly but Index creation taking long time 47 mts (Total chain run time is 01:07 mts).

Please suggest is there any loading performance tunning can be done ?

If yes how to implement it.

FYI : SA38 Run time analysis.

Hi Raj,

Looks likes the indexes need to be deleted and rebuilt manually once in a while for the rebuild to run quickly as a part of performance tuning.

The indexes sometimes may also take time when there is huge data flow.

This is a temporary issue and following suggestions could be of help in resolving the longer runtimes of the chain.

Check whether there are any data load happening to the Cube by other means when the Indexing is running?

Hi Rajesh,

Are you doing compression at regular intervals, this would improves index creation time. Is the process chain runs only once in a day? if process chain running at regular intervals in a day, it would be good to create a separate process chain to delete and create index to run it once in a day.

The chain runs daily once and after index creation step "Roll up filled aggregates"/"BWA Indexs" step.Not doing any compression.

Hi Rajesh,

It would be recommended to do compression for a certain period of time. Compression would improve your index & deletion process time as well as query read performance.
