Hi!

If you define URL as file://<ServerName>/..., that means you set up a Web server that hosts your file. If so, then if you enter the same URL in your internet browser directly, it should show/download this file to your machine. Does it work this way? If no, then this Web server does not work properly or not configured.

If you use URL like file://\\<server1>\folderA\folderB\filename.rh, then forlderA should be a shared folder on server <server1>. If shared properly, you should be able to enter this URL into your internet browser directly to access it. If your browser does not see this file, then the file is not shared properly.

The situation can be similar to item #3 of SAP Note 1635321.

Hi Sergiy,

Thanks for the reply,

I have used both the formats of file in browser. in both cases I could save the files to my local system. however  when I tried from POD I am getting error message 'Unable load file URL...

I have installed Visual Enterprise Viewer on my desktop. my browser version is IE8

file://<ServerName>/...,

file://\\<server1>\folderA\folderB\filename.rh

If so, then you have to submit a support ticket for deeper investigation.

And of course, it is good to ensure you are testing this in the latest patch of your release.

Hi Sergiy,

I am doing this in ME vserion Base 6.1.0.3 Counter 22

I am able to view the 3D image from view button in work instruction maintenance but from the work instruction viewer POD plug-in I am getting below error

one more thing , If select the check box Always Show in New Window in WI maintenance a new page is opening in the browser and giving below message as user does not have access to requested resource

Thanks, Eswar

If you really use 6.1.0.3 (or even 6.1.3.x), then I would recommend upgrading to the latest patch of 6.1.4 release. I remember such issue when the file can be open via View button in WI Maintenance but not in WI Viewer in POD. And I guess it was fixed a while ago for 6.1.4.

Hello,

Have you set up everything as per online help including Right Hemisphere viewer on the client? Check it:

Example: Viewing 3D Model Work Instruction - SAP Manufacturing Execution (SAP ME) - SAP Library

Is the path to the file correct and is available from client machine?

Hi Eswar,

for a file url reference ME Work Instruction Maintenance, you should use this format instead:

file:// \\<server>\folder\folder\filename.rh

Make sure the folder permissions are set properly as well.

Hi Steve,

I tried with file path as suggested still I am facing the same issue.

ME user has read and write access to folder.

Thanks , Eswar

Hi,

ME user is not relevant here. NW service user must have access to the folder. Check the user name that runs NW service in Windows Services and verify it has access to the files.

Can you check NW log and paste java stack trace for the error if it's available?
