Hi,

I have a report in which 2 commands are used. One command populates the data for lookup and the other command is used to display data in the report.

This report when uploaded on the server asks for username and password. Can anyone help me regarding the same.

Hi Simran,

For 'Business View manager' you don't require separate download. if you have Business Objects client tools installed on your machine then it will automatically come. other wise you need to download Business Objects client tools and install on your machine.

Once you installed Client tools there is an option 'Business View Manager'. Goto 'View Menu --> Select 'Repository Exporer' --> In the that Find you prompt name --> check which  connection it is using --> Open that Connection properties and save the database credentials and select 'Never Prompt' option.

Hope the the above information will help you.

Thanks & regards,

Naga.

Hi Simran

If you have license for Business Objects server then you can download Business Objects client tools.it doesn't require any license at the time of installation.

you can download client tools from SAP service portal with S-user ID. I think you can check with  BO Admin guys.

He will download those tools.

Hi Simran,

You can download Business Objects client tools with your Suser ID, if that UserID has appropriate rights then you can successfully download that tools.

After Downloading install client tools on the machine, then you can see Business View Manager with them.

Hi Simran,

1)Open the Below link and provide your S-user ID and Password

https://support.sap.com/software/installations/a-z-index.html

2) Select  'B' letter --> Select "SBOP BI Platform" -->SBOP BI PLATFORM (ENTERPRISE)" -->SBOP BI PLATFORM 4.1--> "Installation and upgrade" --> Windows

3) Depend on the SAP Crystal Enterprise 2013 service pack, you need to download the same service pack BI Client tools.

Hi Naga,

I have got the permission from Super-Administrator to download the software. When I am clicking on B I am getting a screen as shown in the screenshot:

I am not getting BO client tools in the list. Can you please help.

Hi Simran,

You can also check 'E' letter, if you didn't find "SBOP BI Platform", then for your S-user you didn't have those right to download that software.

At our end we can able to visible that option.

For getting rights for you Suser ID you need to contact SAP Global center.

Or you can click on C to get to SAP Crystal Server.  Client Tools is available for a download there.

Hi Dell,

I am able to download the Business view manager as part of SAP Crystal server 2013 client tools. I have installed client tools on a different system than CMC. When I am entering a password and trying to connect I am not able to log on. I have tried both the system logon password and CMC password.

What should be the password to log on to Business View manager.

Simran

It should be the CMC logon credentials.

If you can connect to the repository from within the CR Designer on this machine, you should be able to logon via BVM too.

Are you sure the System you're connecting to is your BO server?  Is it using the default 6400 port?  Did you install this on the system where you have Crystal Reports installed?  If not, is the Windows Firewall possibly blocking your access?

As Abhilash indicated, you should be able to use the same server/credentials as you use for logging in from Crystal.

Hi Dell,

The system which I am connecting is the Crystal server. It is using the default 6400 port. I have installed Crystal server client tools on the system on which Crystal report designer is present,

It might be Windows firewall that is blocking the access.

Please let me know if you have more suggestions.

Hi,

When I am trying to connect to Crystal server from the designer installed on the server I am able to connect but when I am trying to connect from the system on which Crystal report designer tools is installed I am not able to access.

I have got the firewall disabled. I have also spoken with the network person and as per him all the ports are open on the same network.

Any suggestions?

Simran

Are you using a cluster name like @Cluster or a server name to log in?  If it's a cluster name, try using a server name - you need to do that the first time you try to log in from Crystal, which will then set up the registry entries so that you can log in using the cluster name.

If you're not using a cluster name, are the computers on the same domain?  Can you ping the report server from the machine where Crystal is installed?  You might need to try using either an IP address or a fully qualified name (server.domain.com) to connect.

I have installed the crystal server client tools on the same machine where Crystal server is present. Now, I am able to login to the Business View Manager.

But, Now the crystal server started giving error. The erros is:

HTTP Status 500

description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:

What should I do to resolve it? Do I need to reinstall the server.

I'm sure the error has nothing to do with you installing client tools on it.

You should receive better responses from the BI Platform space for Server related queries.

Hi Simram,

If you are not using BOE to publish reports to and using an application make sure the same client for your data is installed on your application server.

If you did not write the program running your report than ask the Developers to look into the problem.

Hi Simran,

Try this please;

1) Open Business View Manager

2) Locate the LOV being used

3) Locate the Data Connection this LOV uses

4) Open the Data Connection > save the database credentials and select 'Never Prompt'.

The BVM Guide is here.

Hi Abhilash,

What is Business View Manager? I am using crystal report 2013 to develop the reports. Do we have option of providing Never Prompt in crystal report.

Simran

If you are publishing the report to "server", we assume that means either Crystal Reports Server or BusinessObjects.  With either of those, dynamic prompts are configured and handled through the Business View Manager, which is installed as part of the Client Tools for either of those two products.
