spool overflow, spool_internal_error

All SAP BASIS experts,

I am facing a spool overflow problem. When user give any print command in QAS server, it is not completed. After some time error appear spool internal error / spool overflow problem. I am also checked data in RZ20-- SAP CCMS Monitor Templates -> Spool System. Here's showing used no. 100% & this is red colour.

After that I run SE38 & run RSPO0041 & RSPO0043, but no improvement. After that I am run & checked SNRO, their has no any abnormalities.

So please suugest me for resolve this issue. Due to this issue my system log folder also filled up & user not log in GUI. Resultant i m clear the logs manually on regular base.

Thanks for guidance. I am followed the instructions as given by you. My problem not solved. Kernel latest update can't download from SAPSMP due to renewable issue.

So I will be plan for QAS restore.

Our landscape have no support from SAP AG due to annual services not renew. So we are maintain at current level. So pls give me any sol. in current situation.

Check your SAPKB level for below note, if you sap contract is not renewed there will probably no fix for you.

As Laszlo Badovszky suggested please try to update your kernel.

Please  note that 720 kernel is no longer support. Kindly try to update latest kernel. Thanks

Hello Deepak,

there is a known bug with some kernel versions that no new spool numbers can be used. This will have the effect that when the R/3 spooler requests a new spool number from the number range object SPO_NUM, it simply won't give any numbers.

To be more specific: when SPO_NUM has reached the top of its interval, it simply can not roll over to the lowest value again. This will result in "Spool full" errors.

In your attachments I couldn't see which kernel version is used, but according to SAP Note #1954264 - "NU: Error when rolling over a number range object" the first affected kernel versions are

• Kernel 720/518
• Kernel 721/210.

According to this Note this bug has been fixed with

• Kernel 720/520
• Kernel 721/211.

Check this Note whether your system is affected.

Whilst I am waiting for the attacment:

Go to SE38 enter RSPO1041 by program name and click on with variant

Now select the SAP standard variant SAP&001

When the variant is open change the options for the following:

You can change the values as required make sure the or and obsolete options are ticked.

Without Output reques older than 5 days or obsolete

In processing older than 10 days or obsolete

Completed older than 10 days or obsolete

Incorrect older than 10 days or obsolete

Calender includer all days

System name *

Then execute in background.

All are scheduled, but from last month suddenly this problem comes in QUALITY server. DEV & PRD working ok. I am also run these task manually, but problem not solved.

Please confirm the jobs are scheduled as they should be with variants for deletion as well.

48400 - Reorganization of TemSe and spool

16083 - Standard jobs, reorganization jobs

1440439 - New Standard Jobs (2)

Also check that none of your filesystems are fully utilized.

Also check your spool number ranges.

Go to tcode SNRO -> Object SPO_NUM -> Click on display -> Click on ranges -> View interval if your interval and rang are same i.e. 32000 of 32000 entries enlarge the number range.

Hi Deepak,

Few thing what I would do is...

1. Delete spools manually from SP01 and SPAD in urgent case.

2. Run RSPO1041 periodically for deleting spools older than say 7 days.

3. Perform consistency check using SP12.

4. Increase the SPO_NUM number range (SNRO) to higher limit according to the sap note 48284 which says 9,99,999 can be set and if your using latest kernel version than accoring to the sap note 1953355 the upper limit can be set to 20,00,000.
