defaultTrace.trc is not displaying the error messages

Hi,

I want to debug my portal appication. I put some System.err.prinln() statements in code. Ideally all the messages from System.err.println() get logged in defaultTrace file.

But right now these messages are not coming in defaultTrace.trc file. I am really surprised that why it is happening?

Any thought?
