Unification. Is it really working?

Hi All!

First of all, what do you think about discontinuation of support for DQE technology (as mentioned in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/9d/02b2b4de384af8ae759e55738296f7/frameset.htm)?

Second. We trying to implement Unification with SAP EP (6.0 SP14), SAP BW (3.5) and SAP-ERP2004.

All connected systems fail to proceed DQE connection test (WebAS, Connector and ITS tests are working). But we are able to import Business objects from them into portal content directory.

Then we tried to do some manual relations. It seemd to be working (at least I can see sources and targets and a 'hand' sign :o)). But when I left Unification iView and opened it back, all objects (added as sources and targets) and their relations disappeared.

Why could that happen?

Thanks for help!

Regards,

DK

P.S. I have read "Unification Cookbook" and "1-2-3 for Drag-and-Relate" weblog.

Hi Dennis

The relation Editor saves the added relation in a different pane according to the BOs that were added as source and as target.

When you close the R.E iView and reopens it you first have to add the relevant BOs and then to click the "display relations". You will see that all the relations that you have created between the current object are still exist.

The reason for it is that you can create a relation between any 2 BOs, so first you have to indicate which created relation you want see.

I hope it answers your question.

Hi DK,

Coming to your first point...

After going though the help documentation about discontinuation of support for DQE technology, I totally confused.

Coming to your second point...

You can implement unification between SAP EP(6.0 SP14) and SAP BW (3.5). I am not sure about unification between SAP EP (6.0 SP14)and SAP-ERP2004. After reading the above documentation.

If you have not entered administer user id and password in the DQE properties, please enter and try again.

Since you are able to import business objects, it seems the system connection is working.

If you have not choosen as drag and relate targets after importing these business objects, select business object and right click on the object and choose as source and target.

I guess that you are aware of all the above steps. I just want to remind you if any of the above step is missed.

Not related to this post:

I just saw your business card and gone though the weblog on SSO. This is really a good one. Thanks for a nice weblog..

Thanks,

Ramakrishna

Hi Ramakrishna!

Yes, I've done all those steps (admin user|password, source||target). The problem is that settings I made in relationship editor are not saved when I leave iView (going to system administration, for example) and returning back to editor. It happens even if I'm trying to unify two infoobjects frome single BW system.

And, of course, thanks a lot for warm words about blog! :o)))

Hi Ramakrishna!

As I mentioned in my original question: "Then we tried to do some manual relations. It seems to be working (at least I can see sources and targets and a 'hand' sign :o)). But when I left Unification iView and opened it back, all objects (added as sources and targets) and their relations disappeared."

That is...
