Profit centre deactivation for company code

Hello,

There is a requirement wherein we have to deactivate profit center 9BLAL00000 for specific company code MN01. But that profit center is already assigned to one of cost center NL31AL0001 of company code MN01 having 2 different asignment of profit center one 9BLAL00000 with validity till 2014 and another 9HYAL78906 with validity till 9999. Now due to profit center reorganisation in past we are now facing the issue when we want to deactivateprofit center 9BLAL00000 for company code MN01. The below is screenshot when we tried to change the profit center in existing cost center in order to break the linkage between it but system is not allowing it and issues an error message.

Cost Center NL31AL0001 is assigned to profit center 9BLAL00000. Process terminated

Message no. KM588

Diagnosis

You are carrying out one of the following activities:

You want to delete profit center 9BLAL00000, or

You want to shorten the period of validity of profit center 9BLAL00000, or

You are trying to remove the assignment of company code NL31 to profit center 9BLAL00000.

The activity was cancelled, as Cost Center NL31AL0001 is assigned to the profit center directly.

Deleting profit center 9BLAL00000 or removing the assignment to company code NL31 would result in inconsistency in the system.

Procedure

Remove the existing assignment between Cost Center NL31AL0001 and profit center 9BLAL00000. Note that other assignments might exist, which you will also have to remove before you can delete the profit center.

For an overview of all existing assignments, use the assignment monitor.

    Hi,

This is purely standard behaviour. If profit centre was assigned to a cost centre, you cannot break this link retroactively. You can only create a new link with validity period of cost centre starting in a new fiscal year. As for profit centre itself, the rule is the same: you can block it as from a fiscal year, in which this profit centre is not assigned to a cost object.

    Regards,

    Eli

      Hi Pramod,

You want to remove one or several company codes in the assignment of company

codes to a profit center. Its quite natural that it has to check if there is any dependency for the profit center that you want to deactivate and it should not allow unless you detach the link of this profit center from any other cost object.

Try to make the profit center inactive first and save and then try to remove the profit center from the cost center and then come back and remove the company code flag set from the profit center.

As if you activate the change directly (without saving as inactive before), the system issues message KM588 because dependent data (for example, material master or cost centers) exists.

However system should still activate your change regardless of this message.

      Caution:

Before you delink the company code from the profit center ensure to check the implication of the use of this profit center in other cost objects like work orders, network, wbs element etc. as in all these cases your cost center might already be in use which is in turn link to the profit cetner that you are talking about.

      Thanks & Regards

      Subhasish
