Backup of CMC Database

Dear All,

We are using SAP BO 4.1 with default DB (MSSQLSERVER2008) which comes with the installation, now my question is how to backup CMC database, I checked SQL Server Configuration there is no option to take backup.

In CMC setting I can see hot backup is enabled with duration time 240 minutes but don’t know  where or which location it will be saved?

A part from CMC database we need to take backup of (FRS) File Repository Server is there any tool or folder for taking backup of FRS

Also how to backup BIAR

If we backup CMC DB, FRS & BIAR is it enough to restore

Kindly guide.

Thanks

Tabrayz

Hi Tabrayz,

You can use the MSSQL client to take a backup of the CMS database.

And for the Filestore you can simply make a copy of the filestore (IFRS and OFRS) in another location.

Backup of these 2 should be sufficient to restore a system.

You can however, also create a BIAR file (say containing important reports, the connections used, universes etc) by using the Promotion Management or UMT tools.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nagendra,

Thank you for quick reply, can you please guid from where we can get this MSSQL client or location from where we can run this or do we have to downoad this client from SMP and install on BO server?

Also please confirm the location of Filestore.

F:\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\FileStore  under this we have two more folders as input and output are these the once we need to copy?

Thanks

You can download the MSSQL client over the web and install it on your desktop if not the server.

Your DBA should be able to help you with that.

Since, it is a Microsoft utility it wont be available on SMP.

The location of the filestore mentioned by you is correct. Both folders under it i.e. Input and Output need to be copied.
