NWBC 4.0 Side Panels - Attachments and Notes

We are starting a project to rollout NWBC 4.0 and Side Panels, we have determined that our #1 priority for Side Panels is to link the Side Panel option for  'Notes/Attachments'  to the 1,000's of attachments and notes we have in Object Services (Services for Objects).

Thank you we would appreciate any information on how to accomplish this.

First of all, search for Generic Object Services (GOS) instead of Services for Object ... That's the official name (Darn SAP!).

And second, maybe I misunderstood your question ... But GOS could be added to the "Notes/Attachment CHIP. All I have to do is go to Customizing\Config, go to CHIP "Setting" and turn on the option Access to Generic Object Services.

However, there's a catch ... The standard Notes\Attachment is using the document area BSSP_ATMT and BSSP_NOTES for storage\retrieval. If your existing GOS object is using other document area (e.g. Sales Order, PO etc); you do have to create some custom code ...

It comes down to where your notes and attachments are currently stored. By default the standard chip looks in a different location than the traditional Dynpro implementation. See Side Panel for Business Suite - SAP Library and for details.
