Hi guys,

I'm trying to follow the openSAP course "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" but in the final of the week 1 is requested to create a instance of Fiori on SAP Cal.The problem is that cant find this solution on the solutions list:

I just find two anothers above, but any one for Fiori like is described on the PDF (https://open.sap.com/files/33c230e4-a5e4-4718-b9fb-f99698acf669).

Thank you, have a nice day!

Hi Nicolas,

"Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" is currently in self-paced mode on openSAP. Courses in self-paced mode do not allow you to access cloud systems, create posts in the discussion forum, or complete the weekly assignments. This is why you cannot find the system as in the screenshot above.

If you are interested in learning more about SAP Fiori, I would recommend that you join the current course, Build Your Own SAP Fiori App in the Cloud.

Kind regards,

Claire

Hello,

I do have the same issue but with the course "Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA (Repeat)". I know it is in self study mode; but how can you learn the software development if you cannot access a system to try it out?

I wanted to do this course in preparation of the upcoming course "Software Development on SAP HANA (Delta SPS 09)" I even tried to utilize the Solution for that course now, but it shows and error. Maybe it is not available yet.

@openSAP: Do you have any input for us how you should do a SW development course if no system is accessible?

Thanks in advance

Harald

Hi Harald,

Thanks for raising this question.

openSAP is primarily a Massive Open Online Course provider and the benefit is really the interaction between students and instructors during the discussion forum and the motivation through the weekly assignments, as this encourages learners to complete the course within a reasonable time frame so that they don't forget the first part of the course before they've even finished. We try to encourage learners to join the live courses to benefit most from the courses.

The cloud systems are provided during the live course as we know there will be demand there but during a self-study course, the system could be available but there might be no-one taking part in the course or interested in hands-on exercises. Hosting these systems does require ongoing maintenance and on a permanent basis, it would be difficult to keep these open without knowing the demand.

I will raise the discussion with the team and our systems team to see if this might be feasible in the future as part of self-study mode in the future.

Kind regards,

Claire

Hello Claire,

thank you for the answer. I do understand completely that there is a lot of effort involved to maintain the infrastructure. And I am very grateful for this. Of course and before all also for the course content!

I am a big fan of MOOC and especially openSAP. Whenever I come across someone interested I forward links to the website.

But even if I try not always I have time or yet the interest in a certain topic. So I am super happy to have the opportunity to catch up on prior courses in self-paced mode. Just the experience would be even better if you could find a way to have the material be interactive after the original course duration.

Maybe you can offer the Repeat in a scheduled mode on regular basis (once a quarter), only with certificate of participation and without a certificate of achievement. You could ask the registered users to vote if they would like to particpate in such a repeat and then you could schedule as soon as a threshold has been reached.

Our you make the ressources available (VM image) so one can create the environment oneself. I understand not everyone will have access to a HANA server, at least not yet. There is hanatrial.ondemand and it would be great if one could utilize it for this purpose.

Thank you again and the complete openSAP team for the great work you do!

Hi Harald,

Great suggestions. We will review them and see if we can improve the experience for self-paced courses.

I hope you enjoy learning about software development on SAP HANA,

Hello,

it can be, that this course is only in self study status. It is because it officially ran in September 2014, at least as far as I can remember. So maybe they deleted this from CAL.

Kind regards
