Error when adding append structure

Hi All,

I need help. We have a "new" source system (GRC), but all the required config was put in place by the BASIS team.

The required datasource was activated and tested - all working 100%.

As soon as an append structure is added, no matter what the fields within the append are, we get the following error:

unsupported field type 'P', correct DataSource definition

The structure that the datasource is based on has enhancement category = Can be enhanced(Char and numeric).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as this is rather urgent.

HI,

Thanks All.

I logged this with OSS and was provided with a work-around. The appended field had a selection status = 'P' and that is not allowed. To get around this, we marked the field as a selection option on the datasource as this forces the property to 'X'.

Although this is not ideal, it has resolved our issue.

Hi,

Please have a word with your basis team, they can help you to get out of it.

Also just check with other datasource enhancement like master.trans and see same error persist, which will confirm eh GRC is not accepting append structure which is not std behavior.

Hi,

When you are aware of the datatype and length, please use "predefined type" button and enter the data type and length and save the structure.

As I mentioned before, the data type of the field in the append has no effect on the error.

ANY field/data type results in this error. That is why we are of the opinion that there might be config somewhere that need to be set to allow append structures...

Hi,

Can you try to enhance other data source and see at dev system.

just append a field and activate data source. if that works fine then issue with specific to GRC data sources otherwise problem with ECC(structure).

Can you take ABAP expert help and lets try to enhance it.

can you just confirm, is that data type and length you were entering along with std  component type  ?- if yes , then remove that datatype and length and activate it .

Hi,

Field names/types etc...in the append structure makes no difference. We have tried CHAR and NUMC - all gives the same error.

If you use a different field, with different specifications, then the exact same error appears with the new field.

This leads us to believe that there might be a setting somewhere that needs to be maintained to allow append structures to GRC datasources.

We can't add a field directly to structure. we need to append thru structure.
