Message server host named change in R/3

Greetings-

When I go to SM51 in R/3, the host name of the server has been changed to 'www'. There are multiple people who use this server, so someone else could have made the change (no one owns up to it however).

I check the profile parameter files and the host name is what I would expect. Where else can the host name be changed other than the profile parameters? I need to change the name back to the standard server name, instead of 'www'.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Did you check the active profile parameter values using SE38(RSPARAM)? Are they the same as the ones

in the profile files?

If not you can change the values using RZ10. for more

Skiishan-

Thanks for the reply.

I checked my profile parameters, but there is no entry for 'www'. Yet, when I go to SM51 that is what appears as the host name.

The hostname listed in SM51 is usually the result of an operating system call, such as 'hostname', by the kernel. It probably matches what you would see if you opened a command prompt (Windows) or telnet session (unix) and entered hostname. There are OSS notes, such as 23538, that describe hostname consistency. You may be best served by determining why the hostname was changed and change it back to what you originally setup. There are also notes on changing hostname, if 'www' is going to be the new hostname.

Check out kernel profile parameters:

SAPLOCALHOSTFULL

and

SAPLOCALHOST

Thanks to all for your feedback. The "culprit" was an entry in the hosts file that someone had made. I removed the offending entry and restarted, and we're good now.
