Agentry Client or Work Manager client?

Hi all,

I could not understand which is the right way to proceed in order to install the right Work Manager client on a device...

I do some tests and:

- On a Samsung Galaxy S4 (Android 4.4.2) all works well with "Agentry Client"; If I install the "Work Manager" app downloadable form Play Store all works but no images are downloaded (I could not see status image in the Work Order list) and not all buttons are rendered (for the same reason, I imagine);

- On a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (Android 4.4.2) all works well with "Work Manager" app downloadable form play store (Agentry Client, instead, has the same behavior of the Work Manager app on the smartphone);

- LG Nexus 4 (Android 5.0) works partially with the latest "Agentry Client" version (the one kept from SP07 SDK - not showing images and some buttons) and hangs with Work Manager 6.2 app (waiting for an updated version)...

I try both with latest version of the apps (should be the best choice, am I right) or the ones aligned with my SMP server version.

Could you help me in understanding how to behave?

Thank you so much

Manuel

Manuel,

The key is to understand what version of the Agentry Client each is using.  The Work Manager app is simply a branded version of the generic Agentry Client that includes different images, app id etc so it can co-exist with the generic Agentry client from the SDK.

You should look at the versions of both and make decisions from there.  Certainly the version from the SMP3 SDK SP07 / PL01 will be the latest and greatest and contain the most up to date fixes etc.

In terms of missing images, you need to make sure you initial sync successfully completes without error.  If you get any errors during the initial sync you should reset the client and try again.

Hi Bill, thank you for your clarifications, really helpful!

I install the latest client version in all my Android devices and nearly all works well.

I found SAP Note 1920087 containing a list of Android supported devices and OS. Could you confirm the results of my tests?

- Agentry client works on Android 4.4 (both on smartphone and on tablet);

- Agentry client works on Android 5.0 tablet;

- Agentry client do not work on Android 5.0 smartphone (on my Nexus 5); here I've got some rendering problems.

I'll wait for an updated working version of the client (since Android 5.0 is a supported OS I can imagine Agentry Client will work also on smartphone).

Thank you so much,

Manuel

Manuel,

If you are seeing rendering issues on your Android 5.0 Nexus 5 I would recommend opening a ticket with support so they are aware of the problem and it is logged for fixing.  Unless someone else has run across the same issue it may not be a known problem.  Since it is a supported OS I would expect it to be something that would be fixed in a future release or SP.
