Print Preview as PDF USMD2 240 Error message

Hello MDG gurus,

I've developed a simple printout form for my Custom MDG Data Model. Structures were generated and everything works just fine with the UI.
The Print Preview button is properly displayed and when I'm using it for a certain record it properly generates the PDF and displays it on the screen.

If there is an Open Change Request for the record though, the button is still displayed, but when I click on it I get the following message:
USMD2 240

Print preview not possible; error while creating Adobe PDF form

Is that the expected standard behavior or is that something that can and needs to be fixed?

Thanks in advance,

Boris

OK, I debugged it and it turns out that ADS returns an error when the Web service is called for the Staging data.

Here is the response message from ADS:

Processing exception during a "Render" operation.#Request start time: Fri Apr 10 19:32:37 GMT 2015#com.adobe.ProcessingException: com.adobe.ProcessingException: 29216 : Invalid value: 'X' for 'integer' property##Exception Stack Trace:#com.adobe.Processing

Any ideas what might be causing that and why it works for the Active data?

Thanks,

Boris

I think that this might be the problem
I do have checkboxes...

Just a quick update to close the thread...

The checkboxes were the issue. By default the expected values are 1 and 0 for checked and unchecked. In the form Layout when you specify the On Value and Off Value in the Binding tab for the Object (the checkbox), the values should be set to X and blank as in the screenshot below. That solves the issue:

Any ideas how to start debugging this issue? That will help as well...

Thanks,

OK, I'll try to explain giving a few more screenshots, so you can get the idea.

I believe the configuration is all right. The UI opens just fine and if I have an open CR on a particular entity, here is what the behavior is:

When I go to the Active version (by pressing the button Switch to Active Version) I get the following:

and when I press the Open button the PDF opens correctly:

anyone struggled with this issue? Did I miss something or is this the standard behavior?

Boris

Hi Boris,

Can you share with me the actual error message and specially click on "Display Help" button and share with me this screen shot.

Yes, it's the screenshot in my original post of this thread.

I compare everything and make sure it looks like the out of the box interface and form for material and still no luck...

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Cheers,

Boris

Hello Bashir,

Can you let me know what setting needs to be checked by the BASIS team for ADS to make it work? I'll check with them, but I'm not convinced they know what exactly.

As I mentioned, ADS is up and running and it properly generates the PDF for me when I pull active data.
It only fails when Staging data is displayed (open change request) and I press the Print Preview button.

Thanks in advance,

Boris

Hello Boris

For Adobe you have to install ADS. Is it already installed? Also your CR type should have the PDF based configuration id and not the std config id.

Hi Kiran,

it's true that ADS needs to be setup correctly. Nevertheless, you statement w.r.t. to the "PDF based configuration ID" is not valid. Print Previews should work for any kind of CR.

Best regards

Michael
