Modify HANA variable text in Webi Prompt

Hello Experts,

I am using SAP 4.1 SP4 in our project. We have HANA as data source for Webi Reports.

Variables created at HANA side are visible at data foundation layer of the Universe and same we can use as Webi Prompt.

But the HANA Variable or Webi prompts are appearing with full HANA package name, which is not good to exposed to the user.

Is there any way we can modify the prompt text at Universe or Webi level?

Hi Supriya and Experts,

Greetings!!

We have the similar situation. Users are not comfortable with long prompt texts. We went with above work around but was stuck up. We have a HANA model which has nearly 300 columns, so when we try to create a derived table it actually takes complete select * query from HANA and validates in IDT. This query is resource hungry and resulting the HANA system to be down. Do we have any other way than executing this query to build the required universe?

Did you have any impact on the performance when dfx was changed to a derived table?

Hi Supriya,

I'm facing the same issue now. And I followed the document , but it didn't work for me.

The prompt screen shows both the auto-generated prompts and manual-created prompts suggested in the document. See below snapshot:

I followed the doc step by step. I don't know why. Could you please share your experience about this? Thank you!

Can you share the Derived table code.

Do you have HANA Input Parameter in the underlying model or they are only HANA Variables?

If they are HANA variables, you can just remove them from the derived table code, and create prompts at BO Universe side.

Yes you are right. I get what I want as you suggested.

But I think it takes too much extra work to just modify the prompt text.

If the HANA variable is interval type, I have to create 2 universe prompts....

If we run a query directly on the HANA view, the prompt text will display as the variable Label and its PATH, just like below

I just want to remove the PATH after the variable's label...

SAP should improve the integration between HANA and other products.

Hello Chong,

Yes, you have to replace HANA input Parameter or variables by BO prompts in the derived table definition for Webi Report. It comes just fine for tools like AOLP or Design Studio.

Regarding you question on better integration of BO with HANA, in 4.2 SAP has introduced lot of things, like Direct connection to SAP HANA with Relational and OLAP connection, HANA Online.
