Material Code Rationalization: Different FG Material code for different Specification of Packing.

Dear Experts,

Need your views and support on how to map the below requirement in sap.

Actually, the client is already in SAP R/3 system and they have around 1000 FG Material codes. For 1 Base FG, they are having 30 different material codes for same base material as per customer different packaging size and dimensions. This is process Industry. When chemical is packed in ISO tank, it has different material code and when it is kept in drum, it has different material code. And same goes on. This has created a chaos situation when sales people want to see the stock of FG, he/she never knows from which code Material stock will exist.

Is there any functionality which can be used for material code optimization?

This is required to have a better Planning and stock visibility.
