I am using BCLSAP.PORTAL.COM. I am new in this SAP Portal. I am very much familiar with Tomcat Apache Web Server.
What is there in SAP Portal that is similar to Tomcat Apache Web Server ?

I am using Apache Tomcat Web Server Version 8.0. I do not know much about Portal Server. I even do not have direct access at present.
how can I understand similarity and dissimilarity between these servers ?

Hi,
The portal is a web application that acts as a web server, however it is a web container extension and not a web container.
There is the SAP J2EE engine which provides most of what tomcat provides.
hope this link will help you:
