ASE 15.0.3 -> 15.7 SP132 upgrade.

So we are currently running ASE 15.0.3 and planning to start upgrading to 15.7 SP132 in the near future. DBA testing is due to commence within a short time-frame.

However I've learnt that some stakeholders within our organization have apparently been advised by external contractors that this upgrade is fraught with dangers, particularly performance implications. These consultants seem to have painted the 15.0 -> 15.7 SP132 upgrade as being as large and difficult as the 12.5 -> 15.0 upgrade. According to them we need to contract them to deal with these issues.

But my research hasn't supported this. I'm still looking, obviously, but I've been unable to find anything in the documentation or online to lend credence to this - the new features page suggests that only a handful of changes have been made at a core system level in 15.7 SP100 and beyond.

From what I've read so far it seems as though this is more like the migration from 12.0 to 12.5. Not insignificant, but certainly not hugely difficult and dangerous! And of course downgrade is an option with 15.0 -> 15.7.

So I'm interested to hear from the community... Has anyone had any experiences what support this alleged difficulty? Or any which contraindicate it?

Thanks in advance for any experiences you care to share!

Regards,

Doug
