I have installed NW04s (after de-installing NW04) on XP. When I invoke START the mmc asks me for a password:
"Critical operations like starting or stopping a SAP instance ..."
User:
Password:
I have no idea which password is meant. I tried them all!
Then, I always get back: "Start failed: 2; Invalid credentials"
Somebody any idea?
Stephan

Hi Stephan,
I'm having the same problem.
Were you able to find a solution?

Hello Radja,
this was one of the things I tried (beside using my own user) Are there any special items which need to be considered on top?
The PC is not a network PC, i.e. no domain, but standard workgroup
OS is XP Home Edition. Although, the requirements say XP Pro the installation worked fine and the previous version worked also quite well with XP HE
Is there a problem, when there users w/o password?
Hey Stephan,
Here is another way to start and stop the system.
execute "startsap.exe" at the command prompt as follows to start the system:
startsap.exe name=NSP nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=(whatever you computer name is)
To stop the system just replace "startsap.exe" with "stopsap.exe".
No username or password required and you can still monitor the system in the SAPMMC.
These executables can be found in directory \usr\sap\NSP\DVEBMGS00\exe\.
Also to avoid typing these commands every time you can create a batch file for starting and stopping the system.
This is an older way of starting and stopping the system, but it works for me. I hope it works for you.
Cheers,
Jim
