Hello,
Need advice.
Our company is in construction business. We have to purchase door, window etc. But we may need different type of door such as wooden door we may have different thickness, or different color etc. So do we need to create new material each time? if i have a door with 10mm thickness one material,
other door with 15 mm thickness other material......
How to map material with different combination? or i need to create material master for each character?
hi,
As I mention we are in construction industry. Many time client make their house changes from standard material. We may giving std. door of 10MM thickness but they need different thickness, color same may happen with window etc. At present we are creating material master for each material means one material for door thickness 10mm ,other with 15 mm....because rate change....
Is there any way to reduce material master data? if any character change material cost change?

No material characteristics change will not effect the material cost. It can be effected by using split valuation.
By the way, have you read the presentation suggested by DB ?
Hi,
Still my question is not answer -
suppose i have a material door, then one door with thickness 10mm , other 15mm and other 12mm.
All are wooden door with different thickness so price will change....
presently we are creating 3 material for each change in character....but any workround to reduce my Material master size....
i had look variant configuration but not understood how system will pick up cost for different parameter...for door 10mm cost may be 20$, 15mm - 25$,

Lalita,
Construction industries typically uses Engineer-To-Order to plan their sales of the final product. Any materials that are planned are typically planned using some kind of consumption-type planning. I really doubt that creating any type of characteristics-based planning will give you much benefit.
I suggest you read best practices to see how 'the other guys' are doing this
