Regarding data extraction

Hi all,

My query is I have a master data info object and an info cube. Both of them are active and contain data. Now, if I have to include the master data info object in the cube, do I need to reload the cube again, or not required.

Hi Reddy,

If you wish to add this Characetristic InfoObject into the cube and place it in an existing dimension, then you will first have to delete the data and then make the changes and then reload. How many dimensions do you currently have in your InfoCube?

Thanks for the quick response. Well, I have to include this characterstic Master data info object in to the existing dimesion. and currently I have 8 dimensions.

Can we just include the master data info object into the cube with out assiging to any dimensions...?

Hi Reddy,

Every char that is included in an InfoCube definition needs to be assigned to a dim, else you cannot activate the cube.

You can put this char in a new dimension. In this case you will not have to delete the existing data.

Hi,

The cube in which the master data info object needs to be included is updating 4 cubes. and this master data info object is not required in those 4 cubes. So, now do I need to delete and reload all the 4 cubes....?

Hi Reddy,

If you are not deleting the data in the base/source cube, then you do not have to delete the data in the other 4 cubes.
