Role Based v ID Based FireFighting

We are using ID based FF in EAM (GRC10.1) and we only using a small number of wide access roles for our IT teams, we are looking at splitting them into smaller roles but this results in hundreds of new FF Id's, as we are new to GRC is this normal / best practive to have this many ID's. I have been looking at maybe changing to a role based FF option but I read the the logging options are different, only transaction usage is recorded.

I am looking for advice as to the pros and cons of each option.
