Is there a limit to File Size in AL11

Hi All,

I had a PDF form and it creates in Spool properly.

It creates file in application server for small data.

But If I run for large data it does not create file in Application server.

We leave it to run and job takes 16 hours - the file shows up in spool but is not available in AL11.

Any idea why this is so?

Is there any size limit to file created in Application server?

Thanks,

Venkat

I believe there is a size limit. Is there any basis consultant in your team ?

Ask them about this.

I believe the size limit is set in the Server OS (e.g. Unix) for each folder.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Venkat,

In my understanding, only to file on application server, no size limit i think, you can append content to the same file by more times.

Why we need split large size of content to two small files even more, due to i can`t process those content by limited memory size one time.(Check the size in your RZ10 profile).

I just guess, not sure.:)

Venkat,

Yes I think there is a size limit to the file written to an application server.I don't remember the size but I had worked on a requirement where the file (.txt) needs to be splitted into two as there is a constraint on the file size.

Hi Venkat

Have a chat with your Basis team, they typically assign an expected size for the relevant file system in AL11.

They should be able to adjust this if you provide an updated max size for your file structures.
