Hi Abdul,
1. Maintain Prefix Numbers: This is to maintain the prefix numbers in the system. When we are going to develop a workflow/task system will create 8 digit workflow template id, in this, first 3 numbers are prefix numbers, the remaining digits are system generated.
We will configure this prefix numbers based on the system & client
Eg: System: SBX, client 100, prefix number 999.
So, whenever a workflow/task created in this system, the first 3 digits are 999.
We will only configure this prefix numbers in Development, & no need in Quality and production system,
2: Check entries from HR Control Tables

Hi Abdul,
"Maintain Prefix Number" is only required in DEV client where you are creating the WF templates.
"Check HR Control tables" : In some customer sites, I have seen this settings is not activated and people are bit apprehensive switching in ON thinking it might cause issues with HR. Usually when you do a auto customising, you end up few error messages which can be fixed by running standard reports. This setting should be activated and there are no HR implications in doing so. Refer SAP note 60801. Refer to thread mentioned by Murali Krishna..
Hope it helps
Regards
Sandy
