Manual release date in purchase requisition

Hello experts,

Is there any problem if we allow users to change the release date in a purchase requisition? Nowadays there is an error message (ME546), but we want to change it. Which problems could appear?

Regards

Laura

Technically it wont create trouble, that's why SAP allows to change the message attribute. But it may confuse some users, you may even get tickets to analyze why the release date is determined wrong compared to the example that can be found in help.sap.com (or from the long text of this ME546 message) and then you may search for many hours or even days until you find out that this date was overwritten manually from a user.

Wouldn't it make more sense to fix the parameters in the master data once instead of changing the release date every time?

The message can be set as warning or switch off from customizing.

To know more details about the field, just press F1 on this field. You will get SAP help text with example.

Hello Dibyendu,

I know that I can set the message as a warning and I already know how SAP calculates that date. My question is if there could be any problem changing that date.

As of my knowledge, it won't create any problem. It is just an initiate date of purchase order which is calculating again the delivery date and others, which is suggested by SAP.

As you know the calculation of this date, you can change the date as per your business need.
