Hi Nick,

MPS is term used in Supply Chain. It means Master Production Schedule.

Master Production Schedule

MPS is a top level schedule used to set the production plan in a manufacturing facility

Read this blog about MPS and the hisotry behind this term:

How MPS Changed Through Time - SCM Focus

Now in APO, the MPS is commonly done using PPDS and not SNP.

SNP gives a medium to long-term production and distribution plan. PPDS gives a short-term production plan.

Read this: Integrating SNP and PP/DS - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) - SAP Library

Now, if you don´t use PPDS, of course you can generate the MPS using SNP. It will be done according to the setup used in your SNP solution. You will not be planning by second as you could do in PPDS, but you will have an MPS plan.

Kind Regards,

Mariano
