Hello experts

While setting up SAP HANA Cloud Connector our Basis person is running into issues due to which we are unable to make progress. Following the guide ( https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?e76f9e75bb571014a7218bcd30a8771b.html  ) the setup was done as shown in attached screenshot but we get a connection timed out error, below, with not much detail in the logs.  Please advise

Hi Prahalad,

Did you get it resolved?

I get the same error when I try to check the connection in Cloud Connector with our host.

Please help.

Kavitha

Hi Prahalad,

On the system that has the cloud connector installed, if you copy and place the url in the browser does it work?  Have you tried using the ip address?

Jamie,

Thanks for reply.

We don't know the URL that would be used by HANA Cloud connector.

We are providing hostname and port number based on working URL for HANA XS Admin pages. That is http port 8002.
This URL works ok from the cloud connector server to the HANA system.

We need help from someone that has successfully connected a HANA system to the connector.

Thank you.

The url that you use to access the "XSEngine is up and running" page should work.  Make sure you set the protocol to match.  Otherwise there may be something on the system blocking it, such as a firewall.  Check the OS system logs.

What are you trying to connect to?  Access point could be sap/hba/ecc or sap/hana dependent on what you are trying to utilize.

Jamie - I am trying to connect to /sap/opu/data as shown in my screenshot. I have tried all resources that are setup ( odata_abap,dev_abap,ui5_execute_abap,bsp_execute_abap,odata_xs, plugin_repository ) with their corresponding URL paths but none of them work.

thanks

Hi Prahalad,

The /sap/opu/data path is usually related to SAP Gateway.  Maybe you want to make a connection to your Gateway system, not HANA.  What is it that you are trying to accomplish?

Hi Jamie

I think I should have clarified this earlier. My goal is to test Web IDE with developer accounts ( SUser<trial> ). I know nothing much about HANA XS/ Java/HTML5 applications yet. But I want to write a simple app in each of these categories, include one other user to test out Git for colloboration and then deploy Fiori app to on premise launch pad. We will have few external developers starting a project soon and would like to have this plan solid before starting out. We are already on HANA ( enterprise, not side car ) and would like to connect to HANA ( is that odata_xs, but that also fails )

To be exact I am on pg. 20 here: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/004f38ec-b5d6-3110-67b0-df30d3257...

and getting the error while adding the HANA XS service

thanks

Hi Prahalad,

I would recommend starting with Gateway first.  Take a look at

Jamie,

I will go through your links provided, meanwhile I was trying to connect to NorthWind service on the web and it actually worked. I am attaching the pictures of the same v/s our setting. Considering that Cloud Connector is actually having a Green status for each of these services I am not sure what's missing.

NorthWind connection is OK

But ours fails with Invalid URL

thanks

Hi Prahalad,

The url you are using is not valid, it has to be a valid endpoint, something that would return service metadata.  I would suggest that you go through some of the guides first to get your feet wet.

Hi Jamie

I just got reply from Jennifer Cha :

This will not work in trial account.  It will only work on the production account.  However, there is a way to achieve this.  My colleague is going to publishing a blog soon to resolve this issue.  Let me check with him when the blog will be available.

Later she pointed out to : Accessing HANA XS OData in Web IDE and beyond

will let you know it goes...

thanks

Hi Prahalad,

From what I understand it looks like you are trying to connect to an on premise HANA system which it appears you have successfully done.  For you to continue with this you would need to know an available service on the system to connect to.  Jennifer is referring to connecting Web IDE to the HCP HANA instance which is not supported.

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Yes, I am trying to connect to an on premise HANA. The Cloud Connector has been configured to talk to it ( by a basis person with his trail account ) and I have added that system as my destination in my trial account Cloud Platform Cockpit. As you can see from screenshots earlier the Cloud Connector indicates all the services running ( green ),  but somehow the service URL fails with 404 error.  In other words

SUCCESS ==>  http://pdrhanmgtdq.pdrsap.com:8002/

ERROR==>  http://pdrhanmgtdq.pdrsap.com:8002/sap/opu/odata

I have no intention of connecting to HCP HANA instance

thanks,

Prahalad

Hi Prahalad,

The url "http://pdrhanmgtdq.pdrsap.com:8002/sap/opu/odata" is not a valid endpoint.  For HANA you would use something like

/sap/somepath/odata/servicename.xsodata

Jamie
