Skip Variable screen

Hello, I have searched SCN and AOLAP documentation before posting the below question. Is there an option to bypass the variable screen in Analysis for OLAP? What I mean is in my workspace, for 3 tabs I have say 3 queries. Each query is connected from BI by BICS, All the 3 queries has variable screen but with default values populated. When I run my AOLAP I don't want the variable screen to pop up for the query and also when I move across tabs.(just use default values) In BI we have an option to bypass by variable_screen = X. I am not interested in URL based because the default values of my variables are dynamic. Note: I have already merged variable and saved the prompts in initial variable screen Regards, B

Hello Balaji

Unfortunately not. Our sister product, Analysis Office, was released 6 months before Analysis OLAP and by default they did not display the prompt dialog when prompts had default values... and there was a lot of customer feedback against this. So when we launch Analysis OLAP we always display the prompt dialog. It reassures the user that the data being returned is what they are asking for plus it offers the option to make changes if needed.

(This may not be relevant, but by default we only display the mandatory prompts... but there is an option in the "mdas.properties" file where we will display all prompts).

Hello Ian,

Thanks for your reply.Unfortunately this feature is not good for us.

But what I noticed is

Analysis for excel – If we have only optional variable with default value then the prompt screen is not appearing when reopening the report

Analysis for OLAP – We get the prompt screen for  the report, when the report has only optional variable with default value.

So Analysis for excel and OLAP is contradicting in this feature?

Hello Balaji

Can you raise an idea about this in Idea Place please https://ideas.sap.com... in the Analysis OLAP section?

My assumption is that you want an additional option in the Settings menu of the Prompt dialog so you can specify not to display the prompt dialog if all variables are optional and/or all mandatory variables have default values?

This will allow you to specify the prompt behavior on a "per workspace" basis.

Kind Regards
