Hi All,

new to BW. Just getting confused with terms

Fiscal Year Variant

Fiscal year

Fiscal year/period

Posting period

Can anyone spare some time pls and explain.

Refer to the below message link for info on the same

To make things clear with an example,

say if a document was posted on 12-Jan-2006.

If the Fiscal Year Variant was K4 which corresponds to the calendar year then

Fiscal year 2006

Fiscal year/period 001.2006

Posting period 001

but if the Fiscal Year Variant was V3 which is from April to March next year then

Fiscal year 2005

Fiscal year/period 010.2005

Posting period 010

Hi Raksha,

2) A fiscal year is "A 12-month period at the end of which accounts are reconciled. In India this period starts from April to March."

3)Fiscal/Period is your the value of both your fiscal yr & period in tht yr. eg: 2005/04

4)Posting period is a period in which you are posting your documents in your OLTP system. for eg SAP provides 16 posting periods from 01-12, plus we have 4 special posting periods to make up the work that has not been done before the financial yr closing. Here we can do the postings in back date.
